The Equinox Shift: From Winter Reflection to Spring Initiation

There is a specific kind of stillness in the UK just before Spring truly arrives. It’s a held breath moment where the air still carries a chill, but the light has undeniably changed. Lately, as I’ve been out walking, I’ve noticed the first real signs of the shift – the canal banks are starting to wake up and my personal favourite: the first ducklings and cygnets are beginning to appear!

In my previous life as a Finance EA, this time of year was defined by "Year-End" data and hard deadlines. But now, as a Wellness Practitioner, I see it through a different lens. There is a restless, beautiful desire to create that arrives exactly when the greenery does. It’s a reminder that we are part of a natural cycle that requires us to clear the old before we can initiate the new.

A Moment of Transition: The New Moon in Pisces

I’ll be the first to admit, I’m not an expert on astrology, but I’ve been doing a bit of reading up lately. It turns out we are standing on a unique threshold this week, with a New Moon in Pisces falling just a few days before the Spring Equinox.

From what I’ve gathered, this really is a season of profound endings and new beginnings.

The Sacred Act of Releasing: Softening Your Grip

Before the Astrological New Year officially kicks off with the Equinox, the New Moon invites us into a quiet turning point. It’s a prompt to soften our grip on the projects, habits, or even the client structures that have simply run their course.

In the corporate world, we are taught to push through to the finish line. But in a wellness business, true clarity doesn't always come through force. It arrives when we allow the things that aren't working to dissolve, making room for something more true to take form. It’s about reflecting on what we’ve been carrying through the winter and asking: Does this still serve the person I am becoming?

Planting New Intentions for the Spring Equinox

As the Equinox arrives, we move from quiet reflection into a season of action. It is the perfect moment to think about what you want to call in for the year ahead.

Whether it’s a new workshop you’ve been dreaming of, a shift in how you hold space for your community or finally creating the systems and structure that allow you to actually rest, now is the time to plant those seeds.

Reflective Practice: Journal Prompts for the Equinox

Before the energy of Spring fully takes hold, I invite you to take ten minutes with a notebook and a cup of tea. These prompts are designed to help you bridge the gap between the quiet Piscean "release" and the active "initiation" of the new season.

On Releasing (The New Moon in Pisces)

  • The Softening: What am I currently holding onto that feels heavy or run its course? This could be a project, a client dynamic or a personal expectation. How would it feel to simply soften my grip on it?

  • The Dissolving: If I were to allow one outdated structure in my life or business to dissolve today, what would it be? What space would that leave behind?

On Creating (The Spring Equinox)

  • The Awakening: As the light returns, what is the one "seed" or idea that is naturally starting to stir within me? (Try to answer this from the heart, rather than the to-do list).

  • The Goal: If I were to look back at the Autumn Equinox in six months' time, what is the one thing I want to have initiated and grown?

Tending Your Digital Garden: Systems for Wellness Professionals

As I initiate my own new intentions for Your Wellness VA, I’m reminded that we can’t grow something new in a cluttered space. Just as we clear our gardens for spring, our businesses need a bit of "tending" too.

If you’re feeling that urge to refresh and renew your professional "container" so you can focus on your healing work, I’d love to support you in navigating this new season:
